Bringing myself to start packing was one of the more difficult things I’ve had to do recently. Wrapping my mind around the fact I would have to fit six months of clothes into two suitcases was the first task. I thought the perfect time to start would be the day before leaving around 3 P.M. I figured the pressure from my procrastination would help get a semester worth of outfits into two enormous red suitcases. Now that I’m finally packed I’ve realized it wasn’t that bad and if I forgot anything it gives me a great excuse to go shopping. With Irelands economy on the rocks my last minute packing might be just the thing to help pick it back up.
Your post made me laugh because your packing mentality completely contrasts that which I had before flying to Spain. While you procrastinated I literally dumped every drawer in my room and stripped both my winter and summer closet of my wardrobe. As I scanned my shoe collection while rolling dress after T-shirt in an attempt to make each article as tiny as possible a vision of myself at the airport flashed through my mind. It took this fear of airport discomfort and my dad's sarcastic humor, "I don't know if they have shoe stores in Europe, we better UPS the rest" for me to diss my inner diva and eliminate half the clothing strewn across my floor.
ReplyDeleteYour post is good and an important element of your blog. It describes your emotions before traveling abroad where you will have an entirely new set of experiences and feelings which I look forward to reading.
